There will be several trail lengths to choose from ranging from 2 miles to 11 miles. Monon Walk March 15th
Center Grove Trails will be hosting a 5 mile walk along the Monon in
Carmel, Indiana on March 15. They have invited local elected and appointed officials to join in the walk/tour of the Greenway and its various economic and community benefits it provides to Carmel and its citizens. Ron Carter, the Executive Director of the Greenways Foundation will be the guide. The City of Carmel has been very successful in creating a walkable community that includes the Carmel City Center, an Arts District, City Center and Performing Arts Center. The Carmel Monon Greenway's 5.2 mile portion is located within the city limits and the Monon Trail begins at 10th Street in Indianapolis to 146th St. in Carmel with plans to continue the greenway to Westfield. Walking along the Monon Trail in Carmel will prove that trails and pathways play a very important in the economic growth of a community allowing walkers, joggers, runners, bicyclists, roller-bladers and nature enthusiasts a place to use but also connects to a vibrant downtown that encourages people to stop and enjoy a meal, shop, be entertained, or just people watch!
